An Architectural Vast Vision

The Sanctuary Project breathes new life into the Old Courthouse.

With 3 phases designed to support each of our values and aspirations, the carefully-considered architectural interventions, design updates and curated spaces join the heritage of our Victorian building with the modern needs of our growing community.

Phase 1: Residential and Education

The North Wing

From a reimagined basement with space for study and meditation, to responsive office space for the team, a refreshed library, plus new and improved accommodation for our resident teacher, the monastic sangha, our residential volunteers and invited teachers and guests, phase 1 provides the solid foundations for Jamyang’s expansion.

Phase 2: Community, Visitors and Guests

The Courtyard Cafe and Lotus Guesthouse

Here we plan to expand our vibrant community space, with a redesigned home for the cafe and kitchen, a beautifully landscaped courtyard garden, open to all, and an increased offering of rooms and spaces for the Lotus Guesthouse, with a view to achieving sustainable financial stability.

Phase 3: Equality, Care and Non-Harm

The Wider Building

Supporting our aspirations of being a welcome place for all, truly accessible, and a future for a net-zero carbon building, phase 3 embodies the very spirit of The Sanctuary Project
