Phase 3: Equality, Care, Sustainability and Non-Harm

The Wider Building

A true welcome for all

The concept designs for The Sanctuary Project reflect the aspirations of Jamyang as a place where everyone is welcome. In practical terms, this means making the building truly accessible, including bathrooms, floors with level changes, a lift, ramps into the building and accessible spaces on every floor.

This value also translates into the space itself being welcoming; lush green gardens open to the public, a bright and welcoming entrance way with new glass doors, and a space where people can connect and feel at home.

A net-zero carbon future

Jamyang is working with a team of expert consultants for The Sanctuary Project in order to realise the aspiration of a net-zero carbon future. The process includes many elements such as sustainable building practices, considered decisions about which products we purchase and use at the centre, new sources of heating and ventilation for the building, and incorporating solar energy.
